Onderstaand een bericht van Ineke Bosman, oprichtster en drijvende kracht van/achter Operation Clear Mind zoals eerder gepubliceerd op onze Facebook pagina. “On this Facebook page we have been talking a lot about art and paintings. Why? Because it means income for clear mind. The sale of paintings (and greeting cards) has helped us to realize a detox unit from August onwards, where people can safely recover from addiction. Later this year we hope to extend this facility with a meeting- annex rehab- center where impoverished recovered addicts can find socio economic rehabilitation. Lady M is in need of this. she is over 40, single with an adult son who does not see her anymore. She was twice divorced. Lady M has been drinking over 25 years and is sober since 4 weeks. She looks amazingly in charge of herself and healthy! Lady M. Is going to sell tomatoes together with her sister, who already has a table on the market for this purpose. Or take Mister K, who has been dependent of alcohol for 30 years and since recovery (7 months ago) is producing little table lights, which he can sell in our meeting center annex shop to be. And why not.All beginnings are small. The sales of the paintings began very small though now we have sold over 30 paintings and at least 200 greeting cards with these paintings as their theme. There are now 40 persons in process of recovery. Some have succeeded but threaten to fall back by pure poverty. Not European poverty with an allowance from the state but real rock bottom poverty.”
Operation Clear Mind zal een complex gaan huren dat dienst zal doen als rehabilitatie centrum. De huur gaat slechts 30 euro per maand bedragen. Kopen zal altijd duurder zijn. Het complex bestaat uit een gebouw met een aantal kamers en een groot binnenterrein. In dit centrum zullen mensen opgevangen worden die bevrijd willen worden van hun alcoholverslaving. In een beschermd omgeving en onder medisch toezicht, wat de voorkeur heeft bij de ontgifting (detox) en de opbouw van de medicatie (Baclofen).
De royale binnenplaats kan gebruikt worden voor allerlei activiteiten die kunnen afleiden van de drang naar alcohol die overwonnen moet worden. Ons oog is gevallen op een tweede locatie die dienst kan doen als ontmoetingsruimte (een variant op de AA) en winkel waar ook de schilderijen aangeboden kunnen worden. Zo kunnen we patiënten laten doorstromen en kunnen we de kans op blijvend herstel verder vergroten.
