In 2016, the Clear Mind Foundation constructed, with the help of friends in The Netherlands, a shop/community centre in town. This was the first physical property of Clear Mind. In order to create more job opportunities, the Ghana team designed in 2018 a long term development plan.


These plans have mostly been implemented between 2019 and 2025, with the final major fundraising for completing the infrastructure of Clear Mind taking place in 2026. This will complete the construction of all residential needs for 20 special workers and their support staff.  

Below an overview of Clear Mind’s annual development-plans and their implementation. A success story indeed!

2019. CLEARMIND CASHEW FARM.

The development of a 24-acre farm with a cashew plantation at Medina, a rural area 10 miles from Nkoranza city. The purpose of this farm is to generate jobs and income from farming Cashew, maize, cassava and honey.

2020. CLEARMIND CAR WASH

This major special employment project was completed and implemented in 2020. The washing bay now provides employment to 14 persons and generates the major part of Clear Mind’s income from which the workers are paid.

2021 CLEARMIND RESTAURANT & VEHICLE PURCHASE.

The roadside restaurant was completed in 2021, and the Nissan pickup 4WD was purchased in 2022. The restaurant initially provided employment for 3 special workers. Unfortunately, because of the stigma of a combination of disability and serving food, the restaurant dwindled. Adjoa still was employed by a food-seller renting the restaurant but she too had to give up selling food because of persisting old dysfunctional belief systems in Ghana. We know that in time they will disappear but the restaurant had to be closed.

2022 CLEARMIND RESIDENCE AND SHOP.

This beautiful building, consisting of six rooms and a separate building with two rooms, was constructed by a well-known contractor from Nkoranza who took the time to supervise the construction daily and added beautiful details like a central summer hut for meals and meetings. A shop was also opened where the restaurant was, giving employment to 2 special workers.

2023. SOLAR ENERGY AND WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT

In November 2023, Clear Mind became the proud owner of a 20KW solar system at the car wash premises and a 5KW solar unit at the residence, thanks to the expertise of the Kapital Engineering firm from Accra, which installed and maintains the units. We also bought a small plot of land next to Clear Mind to manage wastewater and turn it into a garden. 

2024. SOLAR ENERGY part 2/ PURCHASE AGROFORESTRY LAND.

The solar energy for residences and carwash was completed and a large plot of land was purchased near Jerusalem (village near Nkoranza) for mixed cropping agroforestry farming.

2025. PURCHASE UNCOMPLETED BUILDING FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES.

The sketch shows a yellow shaded rectangle marked ‘13’ in the upper left-hand corner. This the piece of land with a half-finished building that we purchased in 2025 from our neighbours. By buying this we are meeting the residential needs for 20 special workers, 3 support staff and several volunteers and visitors.   

2026 and 2027: COMPLETING CONSTRUCTION OF SKELETON RESIDENCE BOUGHT IN 2025.
